Na noite deste domingo (20/9), o “Oscar da televisão”, como é conhecido o Emmy Awards, foi ao ar para premiar as melhores séries e os principais atores do ano de 2020. Com apresentação fr Jimmy Kimmel, a cerimônia foi sem plateia, com os indicados em suas casas, participando virtualmente. Todas medidas de prevenção ao novo coronavírus.

A pandemia e seus efeitos na cultura pop, é claro, impactaram as piadas do monólogo de abertura de Kimmel. Antes mesmo da cerimônia, a academia realizou uma brincadeira, acoplando um tubo de álcool gel na estatueta.

O primeiro Emmy 2020 foi de Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante e saiu para Catherine O’hara, por sua atuação em Schitt’s Creek. A série, por sinal, passou o trator e ganhou as sete categorias de comédia, incluindo Melhor Série de Comédia.

Watchmen, da HBO, como esperado foi o grande destaque entre as minisséries, ganhando, entre outras categorias, em Melhor Atriz e Melhor Minissérie. Também saíram premiadas Nada Ortodoxa e Mrs. America. Entre os dramas, o destaque é de Succession, também da HBO.
